The main company responsible for your Personal Information will continue to be AIG Life Limited, which is a controller of your Personal Information.

Sources of Personal Information
New sources of your Personal Information include:
- Aviva group companies who may provide information in relation to other products you or people you live with hold (if applicable), previous claims, policies or quotes;
- Other insurers;
- Third parties who help us maintain the accuracy of our data, e.g. by identifying individuals who are deceased, updating contact details for individuals who have moved and payment card providers who provide us with updated payment card details;
- Data suppliers, e.g. Experian and LexisNexis; and
- Providers of marketing and advertising services.
Types of Personal Information
Additional types of Personal Information we may hold and process include:
- Accurate contact data, e.g. where you have moved address, changed your telephone number or started using a new email address and not yet advised us;
- Vulnerability data. This includes information about health, life events, resilience and capability that helps us identify if you might have additional support requirements in order that that we can better meet your needs;
- Data relating to your other Aviva policies (if applicable), e.g. policy and claim histories relating to other existing Aviva policies or products or those you may have held in the past, and contact details where you may have advised Aviva about a change on one product, but not another;
- Modelled data that has been developed by Aviva using data that we already hold, e.g. we use claims data to identify customers who are likely to claim more than others;
- Appearance and behavioural data. This includes your general interests, descriptive data and behavioural data to allow us to make certain predictions and assumptions about your interests, which allows us to personalise your experience with us; and
- Data about children in some circumstances, e.g. where they are eligible for a child’s critical illness claim or where they are beneficiaries of a policy in trust.
Uses of Personal Information
We may use your Personal Information for further purposes, including to:
- Help us better understand our customers and improve our customer engagement, including noting your interest in our website, understanding your customer journey, and use of profiled data;
- Carry out data analysis, including to ensure data accuracy and quality and for insurance risk modelling and product and pricing refinement; and
- Identify and support customers requiring additional support, to help us better meet your needs and to comply with regulatory guidance about how we meet your needs.
Lawful Bases for Uses of Personal Information
Whenever we collect and use your Personal Information, we must have a legal justification, known as a lawful basis, for doing so. Our lawful bases for collecting and using your Personal Information are generally the same as before.
There may be additional reasons for collecting and using your Sensitive Personal Information. For example, where this has clearly or obviously been made public by you, or for reasons of substantial public interest, such as:
- Insurance purposes, including advising on, arranging, underwriting and administering contracts of insurance, administering claims under a contract of insurance and exercising rights, or complying with obligations that arise in connection with contracts of insurance;

We may make automated decisions throughout the life of your policy, e.g. when selecting customers’ applications to be reviewed for possible non-disclosures or when dealing with a claim.
Profiling, Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence
We may process Personal Information to perform profiling and data analysis to build, train and audit models and algorithms. We may use models, algorithms and tools to help us:
- Understand our customers better;
- Manage claims;
- Monitor and improve our processes and services;
- Predict the likelihood of events arising to assess insurance risk, the likelihood a product will be purchased, or to predict if a claim might be fraudulent; and
- Ensure data quality and accuracy.
We may also use artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies, including natural language processing, to help us with these activities.
Marketing
We may use Personal Information to send you direct marketing communications about our products and services that we feel you’ll be interested in, always in accordance with your marketing preferences. This may include marketing relating to products and services offered by other brands or companies within the Aviva group.
We may use automated processes to help us provide you with personalised marketing. To do this, we create a marketing profile for you using your Personal Information. We then analyse this data to determine the most relevant offer for you and the most appropriate time and channel.
