AIG Life, the UK life insurance arm of AIG, has launched a next day private prescription delivery service in the UK for its protection insurance policyholders, helping new and existing customers get vital medical supplies delivered straight to their door.
The free delivery service expands the existing Smart Health proposition, which provides six interconnected health and wellbeing virtual solutions. These are available to all 1.2 million of AIG Life’s customers and members of employer-provided benefit schemes, without restriction and at no extra cost.
Through the Smart Health App, customers insured by AIG Life can already access unlimited 30-minute phone or video calls with a UK registered GP. If they then choose, a private prescription prescribed by the virtual GP can be delivered the same or next day, to an address of their choice (dependent on their location) free of charge, only paying the cost of the medicine.
The service has been added to the already expansive offering, after Smart Health usage for virtual GP appointments increased by 250% in March 2020 by AIG Life customers.
Commenting on the service, Sue Helmont, Marketing Director at AIG Life, said:
'I hope this enhancement to our Smart Health service is welcomed by advisers and customers alike – at a time when its benefits should be clear.'
'The industry is working hard to do the right thing. We hope this small innovation proves invaluable for our customers, while helping support social distancing, as medicines are delivered direct to the door.'
This is the latest in a series of innovations unveiled by AIG Life during the COVID-19 pandemic to help customers buy life insurance safely and manage their wellbeing. Others include:
- Finding alternative ways to underwrite people who apply for protection insurance, rather than seek medical information from the NHS, and
- Providing virtual medical screenings to help new applications during social distancing instead of face-to-face nurse appointments – allowing AIG to progress people’s applications and help them make vital financial provision for their families.
